OUR TUTORING SERVICES:
For Students of all ages:
When you contact us, we will try to find out as much as we can about your child
and their situation, and what has been holding them back. We will visit and get
and get to know your child and their needs.
We can tailor a programme or series of lessons to suit the needs of your child,
individually, and can offer tuition to help your child with phonics, spelling,
reading and writing, grammar and literacy, and at all ages. We can also arrange for
your child to take part in group tuition, where appropriate.
We can offer a multi-sensory phonics programme for Primary and Junior aged children,
using games and activities within a structured educational approach, and Songbirds
Reading Book Scheme. There are 6 levels, and 6 books within each level.
Your child will begin to read, write and spell with understanding, and will grow in their
confidence and skills.
We would arrange an initial assessment/visit to find out the level your child is currently
working at, what their particular difficulties and needs are, and then we proceed from there.
Grammar and punctuation tutoring is also offered as a separate package, but some aspects
of grammar etc would be integrated into the phonics programme.
For children within the Middle School to High School range (who are struggling with
reading, writing and spelling), we offer the Fresh Starts reading and writing
programme which is also structured, multi-sensory, addressing reading, writing
and spelling and includes games and activities. There are 33 Modules, but we
start at the level that your child is currently working at and gradually move them forwards.
Children always enjoy the lessons because they are relaxed, fun and enabling.
Your child will progress in their skills and self-confidence.
Services are individualised for students who are studying at a higher level and need help in
a particular area, e.g. if they need help with GCSE work and study skills, we can assist
your child in this area too.
Within our services, we can also offer additional help and support to you, as parents,
by writing letters or reports to support your child at school, attending local school
teacher-parent meetings, visiting your child's school (if permission is given) and giving
guidance and support on your child's schooling issues. There will be a charge of £35
per hour for these extra services.
