Ruth is a qualified Early Years Teacher, with a BA Honours in Integrated Childhood Studies and Early Years Professional Status (or Early Years Teacher Status), with 20 years experience in a variety of settings.
Ruth also holds a Teaching Certificate in Post-Compulsory Education (Further Education) and has recently gained a Diploma in Dyslexia, with Distinction, and is now offering Private Tuition and Dyslexia tuition and support to students with Dyslexia or other literacy difficulties. Ruth has also achieved a Distinction in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
Ruth started studying and practice in Childcare whilst her children were very young and took courses on dyslexia, run by an Educational Psychologist, and a course on working with children with autistic spectrum disorders, with Birmingham University. Ruth also studied for a teaching certificate in Post-Compulsory Education (Adults), and taught childcare students at college and Childminders.
Ruth has many years experience in teaching pre-school children and children with specific learning difficulties, e.g. Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, Asperger's syndrome, and others. Ruth's previous work roles have included: Childminder, Mother and Toddler Groups, Parenting Groups, Pre-school Leader and SENCO, Nursery and Reception Teacher (Private School), Tutor for Childminders, Family Support Worker, voluntary work with church leaders and children in Kenya and Uganda, and working with a teaching agencies in a Nursery School.
Ruth is able to teach phonics and spelling, grammar, English as a second language, study skills and on-line lessons. An on-line course of phonics and spelling has also been developed and can be delivered live, or studied on line at the child's own pace.
Our service provides private dyslexia tuition, on-line live tuition, including literacy support, special needs support and tuition, or English as a Second Language. We can help to meet your children's needs and help them gain confidence and new skills in English, reading, spelling and phonics.
